Job Description

Media development is a practice we’re deeply passionate about. Fake news contaminates the communications environment, undermines democracies, weakens international alliances, and can increase polarisation. We work with governments, academics and tech companies to understand the information and media ecosystem and create solutions that tackle false narratives, promote a balanced and independent media sector and empower positive voices to counter mistruths and misconceptions.


Please note: This is a full-time position until December 2021, from January, the position will go down to part-time until the end of the project, March 2022.

The role:

Leading certain aspects of our flagship independent media development project in the Baltics, we are looking for an Account Executive to join our team working at the helm of efforts fostering media plurality. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary expertise in Zinc’s London HQ and our project team out in Riga, working with media organisations and individuals, helping deliver measurable packages of support, building their capacity across different aspects of media development and journalism, helping them overcome their challenges and thrive within a dynamic operating environment.

You’ll be expected to maintain oversight of the many different strands of activity to ensure the work being delivered is of the highest possible standard, and in keeping with the overall strategic thinking and aligned.


What you’ll be doing

  • Managing complex stakeholder relationships with a network of organisations and individuals across the Baltics
  • Working within a team including external partners to implement a variety of support packages and training programmes (ranging from workshops, embedded experts, function and structural building)
  • Writing digital and creative briefs and managing the delivery of these with the wider project team
  • Overseeing the evaluation and reporting of projects
  • Supporting the project lead team in managing grants and reporting across the project.
  • Managing resource allocations identifying bottle necks, reviewing critical paths and escalating any risks that may impact delivery.
  • Working closely with the Project team to develop project plans and ensure they are resourced appropriately.
  • Updating necessary briefing and tracking processes to monitor and deliver jobs.
  • Embodying the values of Zinc Network

Requirements

  • You’ll have excellent communication and analytical skills
  • You will have some experience of delivering complex projects on time, within budget and to very highest standards
  • You will have an interest and understanding of politics and current affairs, particularly in the Baltics, and understand the possible implications this could have on the project
  • You’ll be a fantastic team player
  • You will be fluent in English, and a working level of the Russian language
