Media development is a practice we’re deeply passionate about. Fake news contaminates the communications environment, undermines democracies, weakens international alliances, and can increase polarisation. We work with governments, academics and tech companies to understand the information and media ecosystem and create solutions that tackle false narratives, promote a balanced and independent media sector and empower positive voices to counter mistruths and misconceptions.
The role:
As part of the leadership team of our flagship independent media development project in the Baltics, the part-time Deputy Project Director will be working at the helm of efforts fostering media plurality. You’ll manage and coordinate a number of key stakeholder relationships that includes organisations working across the region. You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary expertise in Zinc’s London HQ and our project team out in Riga, working with media organisations and individuals, helping deliver measurable packages of support, building their capacity across different aspects of media development and journalism, helping them overcome their challenges and thrive within a dynamic operating environment. You will work closely with a pool of expert consultants to coordinate training, project activities and campaigns, and help direct the strand managers to upskill network members in a variety of different fields. The role is integral to the overall success of this flagship project. You will be based in the Baltics, working face to face with clients, stakeholders and network members to build exemplary working relationships. You will also play a key role in coordinating the project with London.
Attending events, staying on top of emerging trends and continually looking for ways to optimise our approach is expected and an absolute necessary in helping us to deliver impact for our clients and a foothold for the agency within the industry.

Requirements
You’ll be an experienced communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and knowledge and insight into the media integrity information space. You will be well-versed in effective delivery and strategic consultation, in an international relations context. You will be comfortable liaising with senior stakeholders, have an excellent understanding of the geo-political landscape in the Baltics, and understand the possible implications this could have on the project. You will be fluent in English and have another European language. Russian language skills will also be beneficial. You will be happy travelling abroad and operating, where necessary, independently.
